Frain Family In Illinois
My name is Joseph Richard Frain (b. 12/30/1937) This web site is devoted to my personal ancestry. There are many Frains around the world and in Illinois that are not related to my family. They are not represented on this site, except incidentally when research uncovered lists of Frains that could be related. Look in Sources by clicking navigation button at the top. Who knows? Perhaps you will find someone you are looking for. Main surnames on this web site include: Frain, Bird, Sweeney, Duffy and Briddick on my paternal side plus COONROD, DARR, ADAMS, and COOK on my maternal side. BROTEN and PETERSON are my wife's family. LAMBIN and WARREN are my step-family. The intent is to document, as much as possible, the family units on the Frain side of my family. There will be a page for each family unit for which I could find information. Use the links in the left column to navigate through the family pages on this web site. The order of presentation will be by direct lineage through the paternal side of my family. I will start with the oldest known family unit and progress forward to my daughter’s family unit. In between, the other family units are grouped chronologically. Information on this page includes:

There is much information on the Briddick family from County, Durham, England. I am not a direct descendant. My aunt, Elizabeth Frain, married Thomas George Briddick. Their daughter-in-law, Lois Mae Tallman, provided me with a comprehensive descendancy. In addition, Amy Nelson, who is doing her genealogy, provided a detailed Briddick ancestry extending back to 1767 in England. Click on Briddick in the left column. I have documented the maternal side of my family in a similar manner to the paternal side of my family. There is information on several Coonrods, Lees, Grizzles, etc., from Kentucky, Tennessee and Greene County, Illinois that have relationships to my maternal line. Joshua Wright Cook and Beulah Grace Darr are my grandparents. Fred Darr and Sarah Rebecca Coonrod are my great grandparents. George Daniel Parker Coonrod and Frances Grizzle are my great 2) grandparents. John Coonrod and Elizabeth Lee are my great(3) grandparents. I am sorry to say that Bill McPhillips has passed on. His web pages are no longer available. We corresponded via e-mail for several years and I considered him a friend. He gave me a lot of information about Frain's from Ballaghadereen where my family originated and where he was born. Am leaving these paragraphs in place as a memorial to him. After you have found the name you were looking for, contact me and bookmark this page, if you wish. Then let me share the poetry of William McPhillips with you. He grew up in Ballaghaderreen, County Roscommon, Ireland in the forties and early fifties. He is descended from two families of Frains/Freynes. His website at http://wbmcphil.home.pipeline.com has his collected poetry and Bio. In his IN LOVE book of poems is MICHAEL FREYNE'S CLOCK. He was William's great grandfather. All you Frains, be sure to check out his bio at http://wbmcphil.home.pipeline.com. Here is another great link that Bill McPhillips alerted me to. Check out the Ballaghaderreen , Ireland web site. Look for the Frain names mentioned there. . The reason I recommend this site is because the roots of my branch of the Frain family tree originate there. While there, check out Ballaghaderreen Flax Growers List. The Flax Growers List also known as the Spinning Wheel Premium was compiled in 1796 by the Irish Linen Board. There were 60,000 individuals listed and they were given incentives for growing flax. The rewards were four spinning wheels for one acre of flax grown, 3 spinning wheels for three quarters of an acre, two spinning wheels for a half acre, one spinning wheel for a quarter acre. Those growing five acres got a loom or spinning wheels up to the value of five shillings. It shows that Duffys, Higgins and Frains could be found in Kilmovee Parish, however, only Duffey could be found in Castlemore Parish. You are visitor number >faxservice.com |
